Sandwell makes extensive use of simulation programs for a wide range of applications. In addition, we develop models for use by clients:
- as training tools
- to optimize capital expenditures
- in on-going operations.
Sandwell simulation models are sophisticated yet user-friendly. Our operations models are used by shipping and ferry companies, cargo and bulk handling clients. Based on the Audition simulation language, these object-oriented models allow the user to study plant modifications or operating innovations without risk to the real system. Users can:
- replicate historical experience (such as traffic volumes or product movements) for any port, terminal or system
- trace cause and effect by modifying individual elements then displaying the results for both the element and the system as a whole
- evaluate long-term impact by simulating system behavior over months or years
- test new ideas by varying operating parameters
- measure risk by generating unpredictable events, like mechanical breakdowns and storms.
Sandwell models can accommodate any level of complexity in the decision rules for each component. We can readily add or remove components--ships, trucks, containers, stockpiles, conveyors, storms, etc.--or transfer them between models. We have an extensive inventory of components ready for use in new applications, along with global and local met-ocean data to replicate your specific situation.
