Phosphate, cement, wood products, grain--Sandwell's materials handling experience covers virtually every product except nuclear waste.
Handling systems for "white" products (phosphate, potash, salt and sulfur) feature bulk silos, railcar unloading and storage, and shiploaders. For a variety of industrial bulk materials, including cement, aggregate, clinker, gypsum and limestone, we have designed handling and storage yards, overland conveyors and barge loading facilities.
Our pulp and paper assignments include storage/reclaim, processing and conveying systems for woodchips, hog fuel and ash disposal.
Much of the grain exported from the Canadian west coast is handled by Sandwell-designed terminal and shiploading equipment.

Concrete batch plant
This new plant is capable of producing up to 180 m3/h year-round with its underground aggregate heating system. The plant consists of four underground aggregate hoppers, a heater building, reclaim tunnel and conveyor, aboveground specialty hopper and batching plant, and a fully recyclable waste water system. Housed in an adjacent building, the computerized batching and handling systems allow for a wide range of cement, aggregate and admixture combinations

Grain export terminal upgrades
The automation and modernization of this 283,000 tonne grain terminal included simulation analysis and detailed design of new facilities from the hopper car receiving system through to a 3,200 t/h shiploading system.
