  • Conceptual designs and performance data to an IPP for multiple simple and combined cycle combustion turbine plants ranging from 100MW to 450MW.

  • On-call engineering and consulting services for the largest public utility in the U.S.

  • Heat balance evaluation to an IPP for 125MW GE frame 7EA combined cycle plant.

  • Conceptual designs and capital cost estimates to repower a utility generation plant using diesel generators in a combined cycle arrangement.

  • Conceptual design, site development, and permitting support for an IPP's 180MW coal-fired circulating fluidized bed boiler power plant.
  • Detail design for upgrading a six-unit 912 MW gas-fired power generation plant with a new SCR system.

British Columbia Hydro & Power Authority

Vancouver, British Columbia 900MW Thermal plant upgrade

The upgrade of this 25-year-old, 900MW natural gas fired plant has included the installation of selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems to reduce nitrous oxides and to meet both growing demand for electricity and current air emissions regulations. The anhydrous ammonia system for the SCRs was designed by Pacific Power Consultants, a joint venture of Sandwell and Stone & Webster Canada Limited. As well as SCR systems on Units 4 and 6, the upgrade also includes new High Pressure heaters on Units 4, 5 and 6, restoring the turbine generator output and the overall thermal efficiency of the units.

Saint-John, New Brunswick Combined cycle repowering project

Sandwell provided balance-of-plant design for a generation station upgrade that included the installation of a 190MW ABB GT24 gas turbine and heat recovery steam generator to repower an existing 100 MW steam turbine.

Hines Energy Station, Bartow, Florida Plant upgrade

Sandwell provided detailed design for the addition of SCRs to two 250MW Siemens Westinghouse W50 1F combined cycle plants.
