Bleached kraft pulp dryer

Sandwell supplied design specifications for this state-of-the-art pulp machine at a greenfield 1500 t/d bleached kraft mill. Rather than the more costly conventional pulp cleaning and thickening, the 7.8m wide pulp machine incorporates high consistency fine-slotted screening with centrifugal cleaning only of the screen rejects.

Sandwell provided process piping and instrumentation design of a pulp dryer for a 522 t/d deinked mixed office waste plant. The installation included the wet end, dryer, cutter-layboy and baling line.

Reverse cleaning system


For the No. 4 pulp machine at this bleached kraft mill, we supplied preliminary engineering and detailed design for a reverse cleaning thickening system, one of the first of its kind in North America. The upgrade increased the machine's design operating rate from 600 to 800 Adt/d.
