Daily safety/Co-ordination meeting between Sandwell site team and contractors.
HSEC Incidents and any near misses or hazardous occurrences are reviewed as first item on agenda. Sandwell site team has committed to respond to all Near Miss or hazardous Occurrence reports within 24 hours. Work plan for coming shift is reviewed by all and any HSEC concerns addressed prior to start. Any excavation, confined space or critical lift permits are reviewed and finally a round table review of any other HSEC related issues is undertaken.

Contractor new hires are given site orientation presentation prior to starting work on site.

Sandwell’s site safety advisors are in the field throughout day monitoring safety performance, site conditions, and offering advice and assistance to Superintendents and contractors.

Noon
It is Pizza and Pop celebration for all crews on site in recognition of another month with Zero Lost Time Incidents, compliments of Sandwell’s HSEC Incentive Program.

Sandwell’s Construction Manager and site safety team meet with projects Joint Health & Safety Committee. At these bi-weekly sessions previous issues are reviewed and status given. New issues resulting from period between last meeting and site audit by committee are discussed and quantitative action plans developed to address these points.

Sandwell’s site HSEC Manager is a key member of the weekly construction review meetings with all contractors. HSEC issues are first item on agenda and any contractor specific issues are addressed by site management team on one to one basis with contractors.

While some members of site HSEC team are still monitoring site activity with Sandwell’s superintendents and site engineers, others are conducting Confined Space training session with our site management team.

Site leadership team, including HSEC manager is off to community outreach meeting. At these gatherings Sandwell explains project status to all stakeholders in community and addresses and concerns they may have regarding issues such as employment or commerce opportunities, local traffic, noise, dust or waste water runoff. Sandwell also takes note of any stakeholder activities planned which may enhance project community relations and listens to community input of our performance to date.
