Sandwell Establishes Regional Office in Mumbai – Delegates from Canadian Trade Mission to India Attend Opening Ceremony

Mumbai – Canadian based Sandwell celebrated the opening of its new regional office in Mumbai, marking the company’s continued international growth.

In attendance was the Honourable Ted Menzies, Parliamentary Secretary, and Gary Luton, Consul General, who were met by Sandwell's Chairman, President and CEO, Alan Pyatt.

“Establishing an office in India is both a win for Sandwell and for Canada. With the economy booming at over 8% per annum, India is fast becoming one of the World’s leading engineering hubs,” said Mr. Pyatt. “Sandwell’s presence in Mumbai is a testament to Canada’s ability to compete on a world scale.”

Mumbai is a strategic fit for Sandwell, with over fifty percent of the company’s revenue coming from international projects, which include ports and marine, bulk handling, infrastructure, power, and industrial process.

Mr. Leekha, Managing Director, Sandwell India, was equally enthusiastic about the new opening, “We take pride in our Canadian heritage and our international job experience. India is a natural fit for the Sandwell business model and a dynamic environment for doing business.”

Sandwell has a long standing relationship with India going back some 55 years, beginning in the pulp and paper industry. Going forward, the company’s Mumbai operation will provide a broad range of engineering services to the local market while supporting Sandwell’s other international operations.
